NIH leadership from across the agency has been working diligently to identify areas of greatest opportunity for research to address the national opioid crisis.  Several NIH HEAL (Helping to End Addiction Long-term^SM) Initiative FOAs published in the NIH Guide on Dec 10 support "real world" assessment of health care strategies and clinical practices delivered across health care systems.

Two of the published FOAs are soliciting pragmatic clinical trials that will leverage the NIH Collaboratory program infrastructure – via the Collaboratory Coordinating Center at Duke University.
